Day 1: Kigali – Cultural and Natural Tour

Your adventure begins in Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital. In the morning, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide, offering deep insights into Rwanda’s history and resilience. In the afternoon, take a relaxing walk in Nyandungu Eco Park, a restored wetland where you can reconnect with nature, observe birdlife, and unwind in the serene environment.

Day 2: Kigali to Musanze

Depart Kigali in the morning for a scenic drive to Musanze (Ruhengeri), the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. After settling in, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, a world-class research and conservation center. Learn about mountain gorilla protection efforts and gain fascinating insights into these magnificent creatures.

Day 3: Musanze – Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Immersion

The highlight of your trip begins early with a gorilla trekking adventure. Led by expert guides, hike through the misty forests of Volcanoes National Park in search of a gorilla family. Witnessing these majestic primates up close in their natural habitat is a life-changing experience. After your trek, visit Gorilla Guardians Village, where you’ll engage in interactive cultural activities such as traditional dance, banana beer making, and storytelling with the local community.

Day 4: Musanze to Rubavu (Gisenyi)

After breakfast, drive to Rubavu (Gisenyi), a beautiful lakeside town on the shores of Lake Kivu. Day 5: Rubavu to Karongi (Kibuye)

Day 6: Karongi – Village Walk

Day 7: Karongi to Nyungwe

Day 8: Nyungwe – Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk

Later, experience the famous canopy walk, a thrilling suspension bridge high above the forest floor, offering panoramic views of the lush green canopy and abundant birdlife.

Day 9: Nyungwe to Huye to Kigali

Depart for Huye, Rwanda’s cultural and academic hub. Visit the Ethnographic Museum, home to an extensive collection of artifacts that showcase Rwanda’s rich history and traditions. Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon wildlife safari, driving through the park’s rolling savannahs in search of elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and big cats. Akagera is home to the Big Five, making for an exciting wildlife encounter.

Day 11: Akagera National Park – Wildlife and Boat Safari

Rise early for a morning game drive, when animals are most active. Spot lions, rhinos, zebras, and buffalos as the sun rises over the park’s golden plains. In the afternoon, take a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you’ll encounter hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds in their natural habitat.

Day 12: Akagera to Kigali – Departure

Conclude your adventure with a final morning safari, capturing any last sightings of Rwanda’s incredible wildlife. After breakfast, drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute souvenir shopping before transferring to the airport for departure.
